Duterte warns against a Robredo presidency

The country might suffer a disaster if Vice President Leni Robredo guns for the presidency, President Duterte warned the nation Friday.

Dismayed with her short stint as anti-drug czar, the President advised Robredo against running for president because she supposedly does not know anything.

Duterte, who will end his six-year term in 2022, urged the public to choose a successor other than Robredo. “Maghanap kayo ng iba diyan. Yan ilagay niyo disgrasya yan [Look for someone else. It will be a disaster if you put her there],” he added. The President, meantime, is unlikely to endorse his successor in the 2022 presidential polls. He noted that he has already discouraged his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio from running for president since it was a thankless job.
