President Duterte has delegated Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to lead the Independence Day celebration at the Rizal Park in Manila on Friday, June 12, while the Chief Executive will stay in Davao City, Malacañang announced
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the announcement after saying that only 10 will be allowed to attend the June 12 rites.
“Ang problema po talaga ‘pag nandiyan ang Presidente, dadami po ang tao na nais lumapit sa kanya ,” he said. Because of this, Roque said the President just directed Medialdea to lead the celebration in Manila on Friday, but added that the President will still be part of the commemoration.
