MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte is studying proposals to veto the security of tenure bill after a Cabinet member raised some issues, a Palace official said Thursday.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia reacted to some provisions of the measure that seeks to end contractualization in the country, Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a Palace briefing.
"If the President feels that the observations of Sec. Pernia is a good reason to vetoing the bill, he will," Panelo said. Employers groups also urged Duterte to veto the bill, saying it would force some companies to cut jobs.
