ILOILO CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways is fasttracking the construction of the new cultural and sports center in Capiz.The DPWH-Capiz 1st District Engineering Office is handling the construction which started last July.
The new cultural and sports center is located inside the Villareal Stadium in the capital city of Roxas. Former Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras II proposed the Capiz Cultural and Sports Center. It was also Contreras who requested the office of Sen. Francis Tolentino for funding which was approved.With a budget of allocation of P59.4 million, the new structure is expected to be completed by third quarter of 2022.
The Capiz Cultural and Sports Center is one of the key infrastructures that started construction during the Duterte administration. Construction has also started for the first phase of the Capiz Multi-purpose Evacuation and Convention Center, which is located at the Pueblo de Panay Township in Roxas City.
