The Labor department has been directed by President Duterte to come up with a new version of the Security of Tenure bill that will serve the causes of both the workers and businessmen.
“After seeing several reactions from some sectors business and workers, we were directed to come up with proposals and that is the reason why Undersecretary Ana Dione and Assistant Sec. Benjo Benavidez were given the task of coming up with the advice or a new formulation of the security of tenure bill,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in a press briefing Monday, days after the Chief Executive vetoed the bill.
Bello said they need to come out with an improved version of the measure, one that will incorporate the concerns of businessmen and employers. “Pagaaralan namin iyon. Pagaaralan din namin ng DOLE and find out how we can assimilate his version and other versions. Kasi ang daming versions niyan. Meron ding version si Sen. Bong Go. And I understand congress also has its own version. So we will review all of this and come up with a new formulation that will address the concern of the workers and the employers,” he said.
