THE Department of Labor and Employment will provide temporary employment initially to 14,000 disadvantaged workers nationwide under its Tupad or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers Program.Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said on Wednesday that the DoLE allocated an initial P144 million for Tupad beneficiaries, including farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, and other climate- and disaster-vulnerable families.

The Tupad program provides workers in the informal sector a 10-day emergency employment, but not exceeding 30-day depending on the work to be performed. They will be paid the minimum wage prevailing in their respective areas.DoLE's program was merged with Project LAWA at BINHI of the Department of Social Welfare and Development .
