FREEDOM. Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr, together with lawyer Persida Rueda Acosta, chief of the Public Attorney’s Office leads the distribution of discharge certificates, grooming kits, gratuity, and transportation allowances to 168 individuals in a ceremony at the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
The affair dubbed “Pagpapalakas ng Programang Pang-Repormasyon Tungo sa Tagumpay at Panibagong Ambisyon” signals the second shot at freedom for the 783 persons deprived of liberty for several years. BuCor has administrative supervision and control over the New Bilibid Prison , the Correctional Institution for Women , Davao Prison and Penal Farm , Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm and other prison facilities.As reported by the BuCor, the PDLs were freed under different modes such as acquittal, parole, conditional pardon, cash bond, bail bond, expiration of maximum sentence, good conduct), and other reasons.
