A team of lawyers led by the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been formed to draft the revised water concession agreements with Manila Water Company, Inc. and Maynilad Water Services, Inc., Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed on Monday.
“The team will surely consider the issue of passing on the CIT to the consumers,” he said.
The Secretary said the government has yet to schedule when the government will meet with the two water concessionaires for the discussion of the renegotiated water concession agreements. Guevarra previously said the team will be composed of lawyers from the DOJ, Department of Finance, Office of the Solicitor General, and Office of the Government Corporate Counsel.
He said that once the drafts of the revised agreements have been written, they will be presented to the two water firms.
