TEN additional Omicron variant coronavirus disease cases were detected in the Philippines, including the first three local cases of the B.1.1.529 mutation, according to the Department of Health .
The first local case is a 42-year-old male from NCR who tested positive on December 3 and was tagged as recovered on December 17.The third local case is a 46-year-old female from Bicol who tested positive on December 15. Meanwhile, of the seven imported cases of the Omicron variant, six are returning overseas Filipinos and one is a Malaysian national.
The last imported case, meanwhile, arrived from Ghana through the connecting flight of Qatar Airways Flight QR 930 on December 14. With the detection of more Omicron variant cases, the health department advised the public to consider the highly transmissible strain as being currently in circulation.
