After watching HBO's much anticipated new documentary, The Inventor, people could only focus on one thing.
, detailing the rise and fall of health-tech start up, Theranos, the company which sought to create technology to run hundreds of tests on a single drop of blood, deceiving its deep-pocketed investors in the process.
Since the documentary aired, former colleagues, college professors, and hundreds if not thousands of social media commentators have weighed in to say this is not Holmes' natural voice, alleging she started speaking at a deeper pitch in an attempt to earn respect in Silicon Valley's male-dominated culture.
Dr Madill says the voice used by Holmes is "lower than you would usually attribute to her gender and appearance", with a pitch usually associated with a higher male voice.
