NICKEL miner DMCI Mining Corp., a subsidiary of listed DMCI Holdings Inc., is planning to expand its operations via new mines in the provinces of Zambales and Palawan.

Zambales Chromite Mining Co. in Santa Cruz, Zambales, started operations in December 2024 and is anticipated to achieve full operational capacity in the first quarter of this year, the company told the stock exchange on Wednesday.The Zambales mine has an annual production limit of 1 million wet metric tons under its environmental compliance certificate.Berong Nickel Corp. in Palawan, meanwhile, is set to restart production through the Long Point mine in Aborlan.

'With increased production capacity and the Long Point port nearing completion, we are confident in delivering improved operational and financial performance this year.'DMCI Mining invested P634 million for capital expenditures last year to support the expansion and is planning to allocate an additional P400 million this year to continue ongoing work.
