Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon released a memorandum Monday, urging the ‘courtesy resignations’ of key executive officials of his department, so he
can have a “free hand to perform” his mandate.
In a memo dated February 24, 2025, Dizon sought the “unqualified courtesy resignations” of “all incumbent undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, and directors” of the Department of Transportation by February 26, 2025.“Until any action is taken by the undersigned on such courtesy resignations, all Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries and Directors shall continue to report for work and perform their usual duties and responsibilities, subject to any modification,” Dizon said.
The DOTr chief noted that his order will be bound by “pertinent civil service laws, rules and regulations.” Dizon reportedly plans to hire new members of his team to help him run the transportation department. Dizon officially took over the reins of DOTr from predecessor Jaime Bautista on Monday in a simple turnover ceremony. Bautista thanked employees and officials present, adding he is confident that Dizon would continue the projects he started for the transportation sector.
“I’m happy that we worked together and have implemented many programs in aviation, maritime, rail, and road sectors. There are still many programs we need to continue, we need to start, and we need to finish,” Bautista said.
