MANILA, Philippines –Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Thursday led the inspection of key infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of four Edsa Busway stations and two transport initiatives in Quezon City.

Dizon assessed the progress of the Department of Transportation’s -led Edsa Busway Stations Rehabilitation Phase I, which covers the Monumento, Bagong Barrio, North Avenue, and Guadalupe stations. The year-long project seeks to address longstanding design flaws and safety issues in the high-traffic bus system.“We are fixing what was rushed during the pandemic and making sure we provide commuters with world-class facilities,” Dizon said.“The improvements we’re introducing are not cosmetic.

The DOTr earlier confirmed that the Edsa Busway stations, built during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, have deteriorated due to exposure to the elements, posing risks to commuters. The rehabilitation effort takes cues from the newly upgraded SM North Edsa Concourse and Busway Station, which has drawn praise for its accessibility features and modern design. Phase I of the rehabilitation will involve a three-month design period followed by nine months of construction.
