Fashion designer Dion Lee and surfboard shaper Hayden Cox have produced their first fashion range to be worn in, and on, the sea.
in wetsuits, swimwear is the one area of fashion where Australia has set the agenda. It’s hard not to imagine that the next big thing might come from this little surfwear company that could.
“Hayden was very upfront about how things are perceived in the surfing world,” says Lee, who first discussed the idea of a collaboration with Cox at a party in Sydney in 2019 and previewed the designs in his autumn/winter 2023 runway show in New York. “Growing up in Sydney, I’m also aware of how political and dismissive the surfing world can be.”
In addition to the three full-piece wetsuits there is a modular range of pieces, including a jacket and a bolero that can be worn together or individually, designed to appeal to the more fashion-conscious customer.

‘Origin unknown’: US investigates mysterious balloon-like entities sighted in the skyThe US Pentagon is in a “data-gathering mode” as there have been up to 650 cases of unidentified “balloon-like entities” flying around the sky, says Former US Navy fighter pilot Ryan Graves. His comments follow the Pentagon’s recent claim at a hearing they had no “credible evidence” of extraterrestrial activity. “The majority of the objects that are being seen are orb-like or spherical in shape,” Mr Graves told Sky News Australia. “They don’t have any type of exhaust in their propulsion systems – how they’re being propelled … is unknown at this time and the origin of these objects are unknown at this time as well.” Mr Graves said the entities were “crossing into the threshold” of a safety hazard and were being reported through aviation safety channels. “With the different emerging nation states and adversaries we have, we need to be careful we don’t have ourselves taken by surprise by any technology that may be present in these countries.”

Opposition ‘welcomes’ release of the RBA reviewThe Opposition welcomes the release of the review into the Reserve Bank of Australia, according to Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor. “We see a lot in this to like, in particular, focus on keeping the Reserve Bank focused on things that really matter and particularly inflation,” he told Sky News Australia. “There’s nothing that's more important around the kitchen table – or the board table for that matter – right now than the rising cost that both households and businesses are having to face. “We need a Reserve Bank that’s independent, credible, capable, and is absolutely focused on that objective of bringing inflation inside the target range.”
