Human rights lawyer Chel Diokno welcomed the endorsement of socialist presidential aspirant and labor leader Leody De Guzman, who stressed that his senatorial lineup is not obligated to carry his candidacy.“Maraming salamat kay Ka Leody at sa Partido Lakas ng Masa sa tiwala at suporta sa layunin nating lagyan ng ngipin ang batas sa Senado ,” Diokno, who is running under the slogan of “Ngipin ng Batas ,” said in a Twitter post.De Guzman replied to Diokno’s tweet.
“Tiwala ako sa iyong matibay na paninindigan at pagtatanggol sa kung ano ang tama at makatwiran. Padayon, Atty. !,” the tweet read. De Guzman earlier bared the names of his senatorial lineup, which included Diokno, labor leader Luke Espiritu, environmentalists Roy Cabonegro, David D’angelo, Senators Risa Hontiveros and Leila de Lima, former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, trade unionist Bong Labog, and labor lawyer Sonny Matula.
He said his endorsement of these names was not “transactional politics,” adding that he believed in their dreams for the country. Diokno is running under the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino, but he is officially under the ticket of Vice President Leni Robredo. He has also voiced out his support of Robredo’s candidacy.
