—The Department of the Interior and Local Government is set to monitor the capacity of isolation facilities in Western Visayas catering to returning locally stranded individuals and overseas Filipino workers .
DILG-6 Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said it was crucial to monitor the occupancy rate of isolation facilities in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces, as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod. This came after the Department of Health reported that overall bed capacity in the region has reached “warning zone” with a maximum occupancy rate of 70 percent.
Local officials have repeatedly warned they could no longer accommodate repatriates as there were no more beds available. Several towns in Iloilo province also had to temporarily shutdown other health services as LSIs were able to infect health workers with coronavirus disease .Ingeniero also assured local officials that national government was reassessing who can be considered LSIs.
