Department Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said he

“regrets” the resignation of Dr. Tony Leachon as special adviser to the National Task Force against COVID-19.Año said Leachon was a great help in the decision-making process of the government on the COVID-19 situation.

“I value his inputs because he is straightforward, he wants real data and real facts should be considered in making analysis and assessment,” Año told ANC on Monday.The DILG secretary also defended Leachon on his criticisms against the Department of Health, saying the latter did not want to “malign anyone.”However, Año said in “rigid organizations” like the government, while “there might be a lot of messengers, there must be just one message.

“Siguro di sanay si Dr. Leachon [sa ganon], being a civilian (Maybe he’s not used to the setup being a civilian,” he added. Año meanwhile said he will continue to get insights from Leachon “from time to time” despite his being not part of the NTF.
