The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs will officially be renamed Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs to focus on policy and non-migrant workers affairs, and end its overlapping mandate with the Department of Migrant Workers.
DFA Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega, who currently heads the migrant workers affairs office, announced this on Tuesday, saying once the department order signed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo has been published or registered with the University of the Philippines Law Center, “certain functions” of his office dealing with migrant workers’ affairs will be transferred to the DMW.
