DFA reports 74 new COVID19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now at 8,762

MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday said 74 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 have been recorded among Filipinos abroad, mostly in the Middle East. The DFA reported 13 new fatalities, while 19 more have recovered from the disease.

Of the total cases, 2,935 are active while 5,237 have recovered. A total of 590 have succumbed to the disease. Today, the DFA reports that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad is now at 8,762 with 74 new cases mostly in the Middle East. The total number of Filipinos under treatment also breached the 2,900 mark with 19 new recoveries in pic.twitter.

In the Philippines, 1,540 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded on Tuesday, marking its third highest single-day spike since the pandemic began. The additional cases raised the nationwide total to 47,873, of which 34,178 are considered active cases.-- With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
