DepEd welcomes school year 2021-2022 with 24.6 million enrollees

The number of students who enrolled for School Year (SY) 2021-2022 has breached the 24 million mark based on the data released by the Department of Education (DepEd) on the first day of classes in public schools.

Based on the latest enrollment data released by DepEd, there are 20, 046, 495 enrollees in public and private schools including State Universities and Colleges /Local Universities and Colleges that offer basic education the regular enrollment started on Aug. 16.

DepEd included the 4, 557, 327 Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners who participated in the Early Registration conducted in March until May 2021 in the enrollment data. “Taking into consideration the reporting lag and several regions already surpassing 100 percent of last year’s enrollment, there is indication not only of our learners from last year continuing this year, but also that some of our learners who opted to skip last SY are coming back,” he said.
