This follows the signing of the General Appropriations Act ( GAA ) for 2025 on December 30th. Although the education sector received the largest allocation in the 2025 GAA at P1.
055 trillion, DepEd aims to increase funding through unprogrammed appropriations and other constitutional methods to support crucial programs like the DepEd Computerization Program. Education Secretary Sonny Angara expressed confidence in addressing funding shortages, emphasizing the significance of interagency collaboration. Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman and Finance Secretary Ralph Recto will play important roles in securing additional funding for the agency. Pangandaman stated that extra funding remains a realistic option for prioritized programs, particularly the computerization program, as long as the DOF generates additional revenue. Angara also commended President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his prudent approach in signing the 2025 GAA and prioritizing responsive and sustainable programs. DepEd expressed appreciation for the president's thoughtful approach, noting that it creates a strong foundation for ensuring that the education sector continues to receive strategic support to fulfill its mission
