The Department of Education (DepEd) has taken steps to address concerns about uniforms among its workforce by reconstituting the Department of Education Uniform Committee (DUC). The committee will ensure that uniforms are professional and appropriate for school environments nationwide, in line with the Civil Service Commission's revised dress code.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has reiterated its dedication to addressing the urgent concerns of its workforce regarding uniforms by restructuring the Department of Education Uniform Committee (DUC). This committee's core objective is to guarantee that uniforms are both professional and suitable for the diverse working conditions and environments across all schools nationwide. This action stems directly from the Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular 16, s.
2024, which revises the dress code for government officials and employees. Pending the finalization of DepEd's new internal dress code, all field personnel are urged to adhere to DM-OUHROD-2022-0042, titled 'Wearing of the Prescribed DepEd Uniform and Office Attire.' DepEd has been granted a six-month timeframe to draft and implement internal guidelines that align with the updated policies set forth by the CSC.Furthermore, the DUC will incorporate representatives from nine national organizations and associations of teachers and non-teaching personnel. This inclusion ensures that uniform policies accurately reflect the viewpoints and experiences of all stakeholders. The committee will be presided over by the undersecretary for human resource and organizational development, with the assistant secretary for operations serving as vice chairperson. Organizations are mandated to submit their permanent representatives by January 17, 2025, via email to [email protected].
