At a palace briefing, DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Michael Poa said that the implementation of the “decongested” K to 10 curriculum will be in School Year 2024-2025.
“Sa K to 10 review, since tapos na tayo do’n, ang feedback ng experts natin ay highly congested kasi ‘yung current K to 10 natin. Ibig sabihin, napakaraming kailangan matutunan ng learners na learning competencies within a school year. Napakarami ring kailangan ituro ng mga guro within a school year, which makes mastery of these subjects very difficult,” he explained.
To improve the quality of basic education in the country, Poa said the new curriculum would focus more on subjects like math, science, english, reading, and values formation. DepEd opened the draft K to 10 curriculum for public review in April, wherein experts, members of the academe, and other education stakeholders were encouraged to give feedback on the shaping papers and revised curriculum guides.
“That’s why it took us time, we had to consider all the comments for the final tweaks.
