Dumoble ang bilang ng mga kaso ng dengue sa bansa sa unang 8 buwan ng taon kumpara noong nakaraang taon, ayon sa Department of Health .

Mula Enero 1 hanggang Agosto 3, nasa 188,562 na ang kaso ng dengue na naitatala ng DOH, doble sa 93,149 kasong naitala noong parehong panahon ng 2018.Inamin ng opisyal ng DOH na sa kabila ng kanilang mga hakbang para mapigilan ang pagdami ng kaso ng dengue, tuloy pa rin ito.

"Nandiyan iyong mga pag-ulan natin which nakakapag-propagate ng breeding sites [ng lamok] natin," ani Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire. Muli namang nanindigan ang Philippine Pediatric Society at Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines na pabor silang pabalikin ang Dengvaxia kahit sa pribadong sektor lang.

Lisensiyado na raw kasi ang Dengvaxia sa 21 bansa kasama ang United States at European Union. Nasa listahan na rin ito ng mga essential medicine ng World Health Organization.Magugunitang binawi ang certificate of product registration ng Dengvaxia matapos sabihin ng manufacturer nitong Sanofi Pasteur na maaaring magdulot ang bakuna ng malubhang sintomas kapag ibinigay sa mga taong hindi pa nagkakaroon ng dengue.
