A school in Manay, Davao Oriental, sustained cracks following Wednesday's magnitude 5.3 earthquake, the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office said Thursday.

“Meron kaming nakita na mga cracks din sa walls ng aming paaralan sa Barangay San Ignacio ,” MDRRMO head Cesar Camingue said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB. According to Camingue, the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office has already inspected the damaged school. Only one classroom was declared off limits< he said.

Camingue also said they have not monitored any signs of possible tsunami when they checked the coastal areas of Manay following the earthquake.The last time Manay experienced a strong earthquake was in 2018, according to Camingue.earthquake that hit Manay at 5:07 p.m. on WednesdayIts epicenter was located at 06.30°N, 127.18°E - 123 km S 35° E of Manay, Davao Oriental. The quake had a depth of 70 kilometers, the PHIVOLCS added.
