Davao City policemen have heightened their security measures for the inauguration of Sara Duterte as the country's 15th vice president on June 19, following the explosions that hit Mindanao recently.

"Since May 27, we have already activated the Davao Defense System. It's a tactical and operational strategy wherein Davao City has conducted heightened checkpoint in all tri-borders going to Davao City," said Davao City Police Office spokesperson Police Major Maria Teresita Gaspan at the Laging Handa briefing on Saturday.

"All passengers and vehicles are subjected for inspection. We even recommended that those going out of Davao City will only be passing through the Davao City Overland [Transport] Terminal so that no similar accident will happen like what happened in Central Mindanao," Gaspan added. She said the Davao City Police will be deploying around 2,000 personnel to provide full security coverage from June 18 to June 19. any serious threats to the upcoming event.

"However we will not be complacent about it considering the bombings that happened in Central Mindanao. That's why we always beef up our security measures," she said.
