A DAVAO City Councilor said that they had not received any communication from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources regarding the cutting of about 200 trees along Lanang, Davao City , for the Samal Island- Davao City Connector Project.First District Councilor Temujin “Tek” Ocampo, chair of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, said he was unaware that the Department of Public Works and Highways had started cutting the 199 trees to make way for the SIDC project.

Previously, the DPWH-Unified Project Management Office reported to the 20th Council that they would replace and plant around 200 trees for every tree cut down. Ocampo said they would monitor the agency's tree planting to ensure compliance.“So kani ug naa silay maputol atoa gyud na siyang singlon, it will be monitored kay mao man ang balaod. Kung isa ang putlan magtanom ka’g daghan to combat carbon footprint kay daghan na kaayo ang pollutants ,” he said.
