THE city of Dagupan in Pangasinan has been placed under a state of calamity, its mayor announced on Friday.
'The city is now under a State of Calamity under Resolution 8073-2023 due to severe flooding and the adverse impact of Super Typhoon Egay,' Mayor Belen Fernandez said in a Facebook post on Friday.
Fernandez said this measure was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Friday, based on recommendations of the mayor, serving as chairman of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.The mayor also said that as of Thursday, many houses in Dagupan's low-lying areas were 'greatly damaged' and cited that a tornado even partially damaged 191 houses and totally damaged 21.'For the meantime, please keep safe, my dear Dagupeños.
