The Department of Agriculture (DA) said it is preparing for the possible effects of Super Typhoon “Mawar” on the agriculture sector once it enters the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR). ManilaBulletin
In a statement released on Thursday, May 25, the agriculture department said it has advised farmers to harvest matured crops and use post-harvest facilities.Moreover, the DA instructed them to relocate farm machineries, and equipment to higher ground, and clear drainage in irrigation and rice paddies from obstructions to prevent flooding.
“Facilities, food and water for these animals shall also be provided by the LGU during the disasters until such time when they are able to return to their owner’s residences,” it said.
