Rower Cris Nievarez made his Olympics debut three years ago in Tokyo Olympics where he finished 23rd overall in the tournament.Nievarez' campaign gave the Philippines a glimmer of hope early in the Summer Games then as he reached the quarterfinal of the event after finishing third in the preliminary heats.However, on the night before his competition, a health scare hit his team amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Despite this, Nievarez fought and gave his best as he competed among the world's best."Magandang experience na nakakapag-compete ka sa Olympics kasi 'yun ang pinakamataas na competition. Nandyan na 'yung selected athletes," Nievarez said."'Yung experience ko doon, bawat race talaga dapat binibigay mo best mo doon and nasa paghahanda lang talaga.
