A large parcel of land that was identified by community members as an important area for wildlife in East Sooke has been acquired by the Capital Regional District.
The CRD purchased the 15.9-hectare parcel from Vancouver Island-based developer Sansa Construction Ltd. for $1.5 million
Sansa Construction president Kory Gronnestad says the CRD later approached the company with an interest in purchasing the land. Gronnestad says the company does not have any current plans to build on the property yet, but when it does it will scale with the neighbourhood.Gronnestad added that he was happy to see some of the property turned into parkland.
