Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday said the city government was not collecting any fee or charges for the coronavirus disease 2019 test kits.
The mayor issued the clarification amid reports that there was a fee for the rapid antibody tests and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction tests provided by the city government. “These reports are being investigated by MHD ,” he said. “Let me remind everyone that these tests provided by the City of Manila are free, and will remain free. Don’t fall for these schemes.”
Domagoso said even the confirmatory RT-PCR tests would remain free because the P5,000 to P8,000 cost per test kit had been shouldered by the city government. So far, Manila has conducted 89,063 rapid antibody testing, while around 11,663 were tested with RT-PCR.Tags
