According to a news release by the University of Calgary, the team reviewed a number of articles and studies published between December 2019 and March 2021, expanding the definition of family violence to include intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect.Article content The paper, published in eClinicalMedicine, noted that self-reported studies of community households show a rise in abuse. With perpetrators of domestic violence and their victims living in increased proximity because of pandemic-related restrictions, there may have been increased coercive control that prevented victims from seeking help, the study says.
