The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region fell to 2.9 percent as of January 18, OCTA Research Group fellow Guido David said. | JMangaluzINQ
David, however, clarified that only 38 people out of every 100,000 are getting tested daily, hence the low number of cases. David added that the testing rate in the NCR is also at its “lowest since 2020.”
“[The] low number of cases is coming from low testing. But a decreasing number positivity rate indicates that infection is decreasing,” he told INQUIRER.net via Facebook messenger. David said the average daily attack rate in NCR also dropped to 0.71 per 100,000 people. The ADAR is the average number of new cases for every 100,000 sample population.
There is also a low hospital occupancy in the NCR at 24 percent, as well as a low intensive care unit occupancy at 19 percent, added David. In a separate tweet on Friday, David noted that the NCR had the highest number of new COVID-19 cases, with 66 people infected as of January 19. Iloilo followed with 14 cases, while Rizal had 12 cases.
