THE Covax Facility has vowed to replace for free some 3.6 million expired coronavirus disease vaccine doses in the Philippines, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said.

Duque said the 3.6 million vaccine doses that were either donated or procured by the government is 1.46 percent of the country’s total vaccine inventory. As of April 22, the Department of Health said a total of 67,485,479 individuals or 74.98 percent of the target population have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, while 12,939,274 have received booster doses.

Duque agreed with Duterte in urging the public to get booster doses aside from the primary series especially ahead of the projected resurgence of Covid-19 cases due to emerging variants.
