The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended an average increase of 2 per cent on all opal fares across NSW from 2025.

The cost of public transport in NSW could go up with the pricing regulatory body having suggested an increase in Opal fares.

It would apply to all modes of public transport including the Metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rails.The cost of public transport in NSW could go up after the pricing regulatory body suggested an increase in opal fares. For buses and light rails, most fees would stay the same, with a small increase of 1.6 per cent.

For the train and metro, fares could rise between 0.7 per cent and 4.1 per cent, depending on how far the person travels.
