GEORGE TOWN: Police here have arrested two men in their 20’s for allegedly extorting a trader at Jalan Kebun Bunga on Friday (Feb 3).
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the suspects were arrested at about 4am after a report was lodged by the victim, who reported that the two men wanted to damage his stall.
ACP Soffian then said the suspects have been remanded until Feb 7 and the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 43 of the Society Act 1966. He said the 75-year-old foreign national lost RM6,000 after he was pickpocketed while watching the chariot procession at Lebuh Chulia on Saturday .
