Cop tagged as person of interest in robbery of 2 jewelry shops in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – A police officer is one of the persons of interest in the robbery of two jewelry shops in Barangay Ermita here.

A MITSUBISHI Adventure suspected to be the getaway vehicle in the robbery of two jewelry shops in Cebu City has been recovered by police.

The policeman is just one of the persons of interest in the case, said Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, spokesperson of the SITG. The Carbon Police Station and Mandaue City Police Office arrested the driver of the SUV identified as Marcial Ponesto, a native of Lanao del Norte and resident of Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue.

Macatangay opted not to comment when asked if it is still possible to recover the stolen jewelry when it has been almost a week since the daylight robbery took place.
