CANDELARIA, Quezon – The suspect in the murder of a police officer here surrendered on Thursday, October 12.
Quezon police chief Police Col. Ledon Monte said 56-year-old “Efren” voluntarily surrendered after almost five months in hiding with the help of Mayor Mayor George Suayan here.
Efren, of Sitio Bagong Pook, Barangay Bukal Sur here, allegedly killed Police Staff Sgt. Rene Marin last May 6 while responding to a shooting incident in Sitio Bagong Pook. The suspect was tagged as the No. 2 regional most wanted person in the Police Regional Office 4-A facing murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder charges."We will get justice for the bravery and sacrifice of our fellow Police Staff Sgt. Marin. We also thank the local officials and other citizens who helped surrender the suspect,” said Ledon.
