One of the Navotas City cops involved in the killing of Jemboy Baltazar due to mistaken identity has a pending dismissal order, Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos said on Wednesday.
Abalos, who is also the chairperson of the National Police Commission , said vice chairperson Alberto Bernardo is working on the matter as he assured that the dismissal process would continue.
Bernardo said the dismissal order against Police Staff Sergeant Gerry Maliban was dated February 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and was received in November 2020. “Sinabi ng legal service, na nag-aapologize kasi nga e kasagsagan daw ng ano hindi nila nakita yung papeles. Ito kasama rin sa iniimbestigahan natin,” he added.
The involved policemen have undergone inquest proceedings over complaints of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
