TO many people, farming does not promise a bright future.

And why? Is it because many of the youth do not have interest in farming and would rather become engineers or join the business administration, human resources and information technology professions? Or is it because farming is hard work?And today, society must face the fact that the number of farmers in the country is dwindling in numbers.

One of these cooperatives is the Avanceña Beneficiaries & Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative , which first started as farmers' association in 1986, and registered as a cooperative in 1992. The cooperative, based in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte, now has consolidated lands reaching 160 hectares.'The cooperative was once labeled as older than me, or 'Koot-peratiba' also because the only ones benefiting from it were the officers.
