MANILA, Philippines: Converge ended its winless spell after outlasting Meralco, 104-99 in the PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Philsports Arena.
Bryan Santos piloted the FiberXers' courageous comeback as he finished with 22 points, highlighted by 7-of-10 shooting from three-point country to help the team end its eight straight losses to start the conference.The win marked the FiberXers' first since the boys of coach Aldin Ayo dumped Terrafirma, 103-94 on December 13.
'We're excited for this win,' said Ayo after the game, whose team though is out of playoff running with its 1-8 record.'The players are motivated, the whole team is motivated to get this first win,' he added, whose team gave San Miguel fits during their recent meeting before falling short, 112-103.Alec Stockton scored 20 for Converge, Justin Arana added 18 and seven boards, while Deschon Winston chipped in 14.
