MANILA – The Congress reiterated its call for the National Telecommunications Commission to grant ABS-CBN a provisional authority to continue operations beyond its current franchise that expires on Ma
y 4, a lawmaker said Monday.
“We as a Congress have exercised that power by asking NTC to provide a Provisional Authority to ABS-CBN, while we deliberate whether to reject or grant the ABS-CBN franchise,” he added. “I see no reason for NTC to close down ABS-CBN. In fact, it is more important now than ever, for media like ABS-CBN who has a far reaching network, to be open during this pandemic,” Albano said. The NTC earlier said all live permits to operate and maintain broadcast and pay TV facilities that would expire during the Luzon quarantine would be automatically renewed. The licenses will be valid for 60 days from the end of the quarantine period.
