Cone says practice time, not friendly more important for Gilas
MANILA, Philippines — As far as Gilas coach Tim Cone is concerned, the more practice time the national players get, the better they will be as they prepare for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 scheduled to start on August 5 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.Sure, Gilas is set to hold a friendly game against the Macau Black Beare late July before leaving for Jeddah, but Cone knows the practice sessions are of great importance in their bid for the FIBA Asia Cup crown.
We really need to settle in and get strong practices where we can create better habits,” he added. The American mentor said considering that his players are coming from various teams in different leagues, domestic and foreign, it’s imperative for them to get a refresher on their system at Gilas.“We know what we got to do, but we have to create better habits, because teams are coming from different systems, so when they come in, it’s more of just refresher,” he reiterated.
