International Master Michael Concio Jr. of Dasmarinas City will spearhead a strong cast of participants in the Rotary International District 3820 open rapid chess tournament on June 8 at SM City in Santo Tomas, Batangas.
Concio , one of the top woodpushers of the star-studded Dasmarinas Chess Academy playing under the guidance of mayor Jenny Barzaga and national coach FIDE Master Roel Abelgas, looms as the player to beat in the seven-round Swiss system, FIDE-rated tournament, owing to his recent achievements. Concio is fresh from winning the 64th San Carlos Charter Day open rapid chess tournament at the Marina Park in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
