City Drug in Yarmouth is also piloting the program. - ContributedSHELBURNE, N.S. — Pharmacies in Shelburne and Yarmouth are among 12 in the province piloting a new Community Pharmacy Primary Care Clinics program.

"We are so excited to be part of this project,” says Colleen MacInnis, pharmacist and TLC Pharmasave owner. “Our community needs this clinic. I know my patients are going to benefit from having these services available to them for free.” Yarmouth MLA and Liberal leader Zach Churchill has long been pushing for the government to expand the role of pharmacists.

The Province is investing just under $1 million in the pilot program, which is expected to be expanded in the spring. Assessment and treatment records will be held by the pharmacy or provided to the patient, unless the patient has a family physician or nurse practitioner following their care.
