Winner of this year’s Economic Development category, Asima Vezina, has contributed significantly to education and job development in our community

Asima Vezina is a true leader in the education sector and the impact of her dedication to Algoma University has brought significant job development to the Sault Ste. Marie area.

This has hugely benefited the students of Algoma U, but it has also helped to drive economic development and innovation for the region. Asima has also forged and strengthened partnerships with key community groups such as local school boards, the city and local First Nation and Métis communities. While many other organizations have been forced to lay off staff to address financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Algoma University has maintained 100 per cent of its employees, and this employee base continues to grow.
