MANILA - Philippine Commission on Women chair Rhodora Bucoy has resigned from her post, the agency confirmed Wednesday. Bucoy, who was appointed by Duterte in Oct.
2016 to lead the agency tasked to advocate on gender equality and women empowerment, tendered her resignation on Tuesday, the agency added.
"Moreover, the PCW did not release any media advisory on such replacement and the resignation of 3 commissioners," it added. In a Facebook post, Capili said she is calling for the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, which was forced off the air on May 5 by the National Telecommunications Commission after its original 25-year franchise was left to expire despite a long-pending renewal application at the House of Representatives.Bucoy is a retired associate professor of political science and gender studies at the University of the Philippines Cebu.
Her efforts in human rights and women's advocacy earned her accolades like the Human Rights Defender's; the Justice German Lee Awards on Transformative Leadership; and the Tatak UP Alumni Award for Outstanding Public Service in Women Empowerment.
