Michael Steven Davis, who says he identifies “as a man from 1990 where your pronouns don’t exist”, has faced a Sydney court.
A self-described right-wing Christian conservative has faced a Sydney court accused of threatening Indigenous ABC broadcaster Stan Grant and his family after the high-profile presenter stepped down, citing a wave of abuse.
Davis, in a blue suit, “suffers from anxiety”, his lawyer Peter Mitchell told the court on Wednesday. Davis’ online profiles still host multiple other videos, posted on those two days, containing comments about Grant.“Mate, if I see you in the street, and you call my f---in’ people scum, I am gonna beat the living f---ing shit out of you,” Davis said in a video posted on Facebook on May 22.
Outside court, Davis was far more subdued. He wore sunglasses and refused to respond to questions by news crews, and Mitchell said there would be no comment as the matter was before the courts.
