INDIVIDUALS issued gun ban exemptions during the May 2025 midterm polls need not secure new ones for the forthcoming October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections .This was according to the Commission on Elections , saying they will only be required to apply for extensions of their Certificates of Authority .“For those issued CAs during the May elections, extension na lang kailangan kasi naka-submit na sila dati,” said Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino in an interview.
The poll official said applications—either for exemption or extension—must be filed before the gun ban period for the BPE takes effect on August 14.“On August 14, the Election Period starts, along with the gun ban. Once the gun ban takes effect, they must have their CAs before they are able to carry their firearms,” said Ferolino.According to the Comelec–Gun Ban and Security Concerns Committee , the filing of applications for CAs started last July 14 and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
